In the previous article we discussed how the DPF regeneration process should ideally be automatic. However in reality this is often not the case and a DPF cleaner is then needed.
DPF cleaning additives comparison
You may have noticed the diesel cleaning additives table on our website, on which you can see how well each additive performs in cleaning the DPF:
|Product||Injection cleaning||Pump cleaning||DPF cleaning||Turbo cleaning||Other protection|
|In & Out||■■■■■||■■■■□||■■■■■||■■■■■||■■■■□|
As you can see, there are three clear levels of DPF cleaning efficiency. While Ultimax Diesel provides a very soft cleanse, DPF Pro and Full Detox yields a more thorough regeneration. In & Out, however, is in a league of its own.
This difference in efficiency is a result of the active compound used in each additive, as you may guess.
Using our cerium-oxide based Nexgen™ technology, DPF Pro and Full Detox can vastly accelerate the regeneration process of the diesel particulate filter. Both additives will restore a moderately clogged DPF using only 350ml of product.
On the other hand, the ferrocene-based Ultimax helps with cleaning the filter but, in comparison to normal DPF regeneration, the difference is much more subtle than with the other compounds.
WARNING! If you are thinking of using a DPF cleaning additive in your heavy duty truck be aware that the iron based additives (like the Ultimax Diesel) are not recommended due to the Continuously Regenerating Trap their DPF have installed in it.
Quality hand in hand with Quantity
Ferrocene-free additives are not exclusive to Xenum. Other companies also use DPF cleaning products that rely on cerium or platinum. However, Xenum is the only brand to provide this balance in ingredients and this volume of active compound in small bottles.
This is where the Xenum In & Out stand out among the competition. The best DPF additive. Using the Nexgen™ technology to full advantage, the 1.5 litre can is added directly into a half-full diesel tank, producing a much faster and effective DPF regeneration.
In addition to this, In & Out also treats many other parts of the engine and exhaust system while also providing outstanding protection against corrosion and oxidation.
So, which one is the best DPF cleaner for me?
The answer to this question depends on your needs:
- Do you want to prevent poor performance in the DPF ?
- Has the DPF warning light never appeared? Then go straight to the Ultimax Diesel.
- Is this the first time you notice a problem of the DPF?
- Then DPF Pro sure helps.
- Is your DPF causing problems and do you want to give the engine a full cleanse?
- Full Detox is the right choice as a deep DPF cleaning additive.
- Are you the kind of person who doesn’t like to experiment?
- In & Out is your choice, the best DPF cleaner. Period.
The choice is yours, but be cautious. If unsure about which product to use, always seek professional advice.
